Laser metal cutting solution
Advantage: generate a laser beam by means of the so-called seed laser and amplify it in specially designed glass fibers, which are supplied with energy via pump diodes. Fiber laser’ s wavelength is 1.064 micrometers, it has high cutting speed, low operation cost.
Disadvantages: the speed advantage of the fiber laser cutting is not obvious when it cut thick metal sheet, mainly because the absorption rate of the metal fiber laser emission wavelength will be lower as the metal sheet thicker
Suitable for metal cutting
500w is for the 0-5mm steel cutting, cheap but stable.
1000W-2000w is for the thick steel
Advantages: Because the Co2 laser’s wavelength is 10.6 microns, easy to absorbed by non-metallic appearance, so small and medium-power CO2 lasers are mainly used in non-metallic materials processing industry, Only high-power CO2 laser machine are used in metal materials processing industries.
Disadvantages: CO2 laser light is not easily absorbed by copper, aluminum, high reflective non-ferrous materials, and the high power CO2 laser system need large laser area, it’s one-time investment is very high.
Suitable for: small and medium power is for non-metal cutting such as wood, plastic, acrylic, and so on, high power Co2 laser is suitable for the thick metal, aluminum copper
Advantages: YAG solid-state laser’ output wavelength is shorter, it has the same wavelength as fiber lasers. Unlike fiber lasers, the YAG laser include the relatively expensive pump diodes, which are wearing parts. They must be replaced after approx. 8,000 to max. 15,000 laser hours. The crystal itself also has a shorter service life than a fiber laser. But it is easy to absorbed by the metal surface, such as carbon steel, stainless steel and copper, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, especial the Aluminum copper, YAG cutting will be better. and YAG laser is small , equipped with small footprint, low energy consumption, low investment cost, suitable for use by small industry
disadvantage: YAG solid-state laser conversion efficiency is very low, only 1-3%; the operation cost of YAG laser will be more expensive than the CO2 laser and fiber laser.
